About the School and Local Area

Queen Elizabeth Grammar School (QEGS) in Wakefield, West Yorkshire, is a leading independent school with a proud history dating back to its foundation in 1591. The school is well-regarded for academic excellence and strong community values, serving pupils across Wakefield and the wider Yorkshire region. Wakefield itself is a city with a rich industrial heritage and a reputation as a cultural hub, home to The Hepworth Gallery and surrounded by scenic Yorkshire countryside.

The school’s facilities are critical in supporting its commitment to providing first-class education and co-curricular activities. Maintaining safe, reliable, and modern infrastructure plays a key role in delivering this vision for current and future generations.

Project Overview

The existing flat roof areas had reached the end of their serviceable life and were experiencing water ingress issues, reduced thermal performance, and increased maintenance costs. D&D Roofing was engaged as the principal contractor to oversee the full roof replacement, ensuring safety, quality, and minimal disruption to the school’s daily operations.
