Located in the heart of Salford, Greater Manchester, Regent Street Plaza is a modern mixed-use development demanding a high-performance, durable, and visually appealing roofing solution. With weather resilience and energy efficiency as key priorities, our team was tasked with delivering a warm flat roofing system over a 980 m² area.

We specified and installed a complete ICB Waterproofing system built around Alwitra’s Evalon® VSK self-adhesive membrane in slate grey, combining aesthetics with long-term performance.

Roof Build-Up Specification

The warm flat roof system comprised the following layers:

Metal Roof Deck – Serving as the structural base for the roofing system.
Vapour Control Layer (VCL) – To protect the insulation and roof structure from interstitial condensation.
180mm PIR Insulation – Providing high thermal performance in line with Part L Building Regulations.
Cut-to-Fall Insulation in Central Gutter – Installed to ensure effective drainage and avoid standing water in the valley areas.
Eva Prime SA Primer – Applied to ensure optimal adhesion for the membrane installation.
Alwitra Evalon® VSK 1.2mm Self-Adhesive Membrane – The top waterproofing layer offering a seamless, robust finish with proven resistance to weathering and UV.

Key Benefits of the System

Rapid Installation: The self-adhesive nature of Evalon VSK eliminated the need for hot works, improving on-site safety and reducing installation time.

Weather Window: Installation was timed during a dry spell to maximise efficiency, taking advantage of the Evalon VSK’s compatibility with ambient temperature applications.
