TESCO EXPRESS - Middlesbrough Case Study 2024

CASE STUDY

Project Title: Tesco Express

Client: Tesco Superstore

Location: Middlesbrough, United Kingdom

Project Overview:

This Tesco supermarket had undergone serious levels of fire damage in the warehouse. The insulation had melted, the structural trusses had perished, and the existing roof coverings were now compromised. We installed new structural timbers with a composite slate build up to match the existing.

Challenges:

Which trusses had lost their structural integrity had not yet been determined. Additionally, due to the unique shape of the building, each truss had to be measured individually.

Solution:

Existing structural survey was undertaken, marking every member which had undergone smoke and fire damage. Following this, our inhouse surveyor measured the marked trusses. These measures were communicated to our supply chain to begin the manufacturing of the new bespoke trusses.

Robust Waterproofing System: To mitigate the risk of water damage and ensure long-term durability, we implemented a comprehensive waterproofing system comprising high-quality membranes, sealants, and flashing details. This system was designed to withstand the challenging weather conditions prevalent in Derbyshire.

Outcome:

A seamless transition from the existing to the new roof coverings.
